GOREY SCHOOL OF ART AT WEXFORD DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL

Home – Eman Cherbatji

Eman Cherbatji a graduate of the Film and Photography course in Gorey School of Art has been selected from a large volume of national and international filmmakers to screen her film Home at the 5th Wexford Documentary Film Festival. Home is a documentary about a family that fled Aleppo Syria and are now living in Ballyhaunis in Mayo. Through the film we learn about their homeland before the war as they ponder the idea if they would ever call Ballyhaunis their home. Eman says “I went into the course asking if I could do photography only, not knowing I would love filmmaking, but after doing the course I realised I wanted to become a documentary filmmaker, I fell in love with film, and now all I want to do is make documentaries.”
